What is reflexology?
Although reflexology was introduced to the western world over 100 years ago, various forms of this ancient therapy have been practiced and developed in the Far East, America and Africa.
Methods have developed in different ways, with varying lengths of treatment using heavier or lighter pressure.
Reflexology is a gentle, non invasive complementary therapy that works by using specific techniques with varying degrees of pressure to help bring about a state of deep relaxation and help improve well being.
It is based on the theory that different points on the feet, lower leg, hands face or ears are linked by energy pathways to corresponding parts of the body and when pressure is applied, it stimulates the movement of energy along these pathways.
Can I benefit from reflexology?
As a holistic reflexologist practitioner, my aim is to support you as a whole person and promote your wellbeing.
My greatest wish is to help negate the effects of stress for each and every client as I believe that stress impinges upon the body's ability to function effectively.
Reflexology is not a therapy used to treat or diagnose illness and although there are some positive research projects being carried out with reflexology, we are unable as yet to make clinical claims of effectiveness as there isn't currently a large enough body of evidence available.
However the only way to know if reflexology can make you feel better is to try it!
