WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A SESSION OF REFLEXOLOGY?
During your first session, I will take a short medical history and chat with you about your health, diet and lifestyle and any presenting conditions or ailments you may have.
It is important to list all health concerns and medications so that I can safely plan your treatment according to your specific needs.
Additionally, it is important to list any allergies you may have so that I can select oils and creams accordingly.
This typically takes about 15-20 minutes
This information allows me to make a bespoke treatment plan for you.

THE TREATMENT ITSELF
During a session of foot reflexology you will remain fully clothed but take off your shoes and socks for me to work on your feet. You will be reclined on a very comfortable massage table and usually covered with a blanket.
A natural cream, or oil is used on your feet.
For facial reflexology you remain fully clothed and your face will be cleansed briefly before a gentle, organic oil is applied and reflexology commences.
I will always discuss the use of products with you and make sure you are happy with the choice of medium before application.
The treatment will begin with some gentle relaxation techniques followed by some pressure to each of the reflex points, when you can close your eyes and relax.
AFTER THE TREATMENT
Following your session I will make notes so that improvements can be noted at future appointments. All information recorded is treated in accordance with the Data Protection Act and will remain totally confidential.
After your treatment, I will advise you to drink plenty of fresh water to help flush toxins from your body. It is also good to avoid alcohol and eat only light meals.
A typical session will last around 75 minutes including a pre-treatment chat to discuss concerns and aftercare advice, although this can be shortened or lengthened as required.
It is generally recommended that you have 4-6 weekly treatments initially however there is never any pressure to rebook and I encourage people just to try reflexology to see whether they think it might work for them.
WILL THE TREATMENT HURT?
I will use my thumbs, fingers and knuckles to apply pressure to the feet and sometimes the lower leg, hands ears or face depending on the type of reflexology treatment chosen. Some areas may feel tender when pressed but this will only be momentary and the general feeling should feel relaxing.
HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER THE TREATMENT?
After one or two treatments, most people feel an improved sense of well being and experience a deep sense of relaxation. Occasionally people report experiencing a mild headache, feeling tired or needing to use the toilet more normal following their treatment.
These reactions are considered to be a normal part of the healing process and should pass within 24-48 hours.
